Philip Rivers

Philip Rivers is a professional football player in the National Football League. He currently plays quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers. Born in Alabama and grew up with his father coaching football. Rivers played football throughout his middle school and high school years and went on to sign with North Carolina State University.

During his time at North Carolina, Rivers broke nearly each of the school and conference’s passing records and lead his team to 4 bowl games. Rivers was named the Athletic Coast Conference Rookie of the Year in 2000 and Athlete of the Year in 2004.

After graduation, Rivers signed with the San Diego Chargers but spent his first two years in the league as back up quarter back. In 2006, Rivers made his debut as starting quarterback for the team and still serves as such today. During his time with the Chargers, Rivers has been a 7x Pro Bowler, named 2008 NFL passer rating leader and passing touchdowns co-leader, 2010 NFL passing yards leader, and 2013 NFL Comeback Player of the Year

Rivers is a father of eight and led philanthropic efforts with his wife to support and raise awareness for foster children in the San Diego area.
